Thoughts on: Acts 1:14
14They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
Honestly, I don’t pray about much. On occasions, though, I do pray about things; like for help, or guidance in troubled times. I do pray during church and when a group that I am in has a prayer. I should really start praying on my own every day, it might help me grow with and learn from the Lord.
In our church in in our group, we do very well with praying. We start with a prayer, sometimes we pray in the middle, and end with a prayer. It’s great, because we usually have different people pray every time so that people can get comfortable with praying.
Thoughts on: Philippians 2:1-4
If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3Do nothing our of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Jesus is the perfect example of what we should act like. Instead of worrying about our own needs we should worry about the people around us and those who are in need. We should serve with a servant’s heart and do it with spirit and purpose. We should not be selfish but think of others’ needs more important than yours.
I should learn from this to be more patient with people and I could use this verse to help be more understanding and helpful.
Thoughts on: Proverbs 27:17
As iron sharpens iron,
so one man sharpens another.
This verse actually has many meanings. It was a lot easier for me to understand than last week’s verse, too.
It means how we all teach, help, and learn from one another; and how our actions may positively or negatively affect the people around us. It tells us to set good examples for our friends and family, for it may (and probably will influence them).
At LCC, you learn things from people you don’t expect to learn from and you learn lessons that you would never think you would learn.
At our Youth Ministry, (especially this week
) you can learn about forgiveness and how everyone makes mistakes. You learn about the Scripture from Pastor Jaimie and how to study and apply it’s teachings to everyday life.
Thoughts on: Luke 22:25-27
25 Jesus said to them, “The kings of the nations hold power over their people. And those who order them around call themselves Protectors. 26 But you must not be like that. Instead, the most important among you should be like the youngest. The one who rules should be like the one who serves. 27 “Who is more important? Is it the one at the table, or the one who serves? Isn’t it the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.
This verse was confusing at first, then the real meaning of it came to me; I had to read it a few times actually.
It is about how we shouldn’t care about our social status or rank in society, and that we should focus our time on serving each other and serving the Lord.
It made me feel good about living in a kingdom not based on gold or silver, but based off of the richness of your spirit.
